The Glastonbury Citizen October 28, 2010 <Original> eight letters:
2010 will undoubtedly go down in U.S. History as one of the most negative campaign seasons in political history — across the country. Yet there are those candidates who refused to go negative, refused to to lie to to voters and refused to distort the truth.
One such Connecticut candidate is Representative Tom Kehoe, Democrat for the 31st District in Glastonbury, who follows his own campaign slogan of “Positive Leadership, Positive Results”. In the face of inaccurate negative ads from his opponent, Tom Kehoe remains focused on building new policy for Glastonbury and for Connecticut. That the Connecticut General Assembly needs to work collaboratively and in a bipartisan manner to re-establish the way they do business is obvious to many progressive thinkers in the Connecticut Legislature.
Tom Kehoe has already brought significant funds back to Glastonbury for education and the environment — after he was told by predecessors that it could not be done. He had looked for and established new tax credits to lessen the burden on homeowners and veterans. He has advocated for new modes of transportation that will move Connecticut forward in terms of infrastructure and job creation. He is the exact kind of leader Glastonbury requires now and for the 21st Century.
Despite claims by his opponent that he is a “tax and spend majority member”, the evidence for his four years in office demonstrates the opposite. Tom Kehoe not only looks for ways to save Glastonbury residents money, he plans for the future with realistic policies that are both fiscally responsible and based on common sense. He gives more than lip service to positive results; he is the real deal. His positive leadership has definitely generated positive results. I urge you to vote for Representative Tom Kehoe on November 2, 2010. Glastonbury needs Tom to move Connecticut forward.
Pat Saddlemire, Chair, GDTC
During his two terms in the State Assembly, Tom Kehoe has served Glastonbury well, using his considerable political and professional skills to advance our interests in Glastonbury. He has worked hard to help grow Connecticut’s economy, to improve education and fix its funding problems, to protect our environment, and to encourage smart growth. These are all good reasons to return Tom to the statehouse.
Unaffiliated and Republican voters should also know that Tom has a long record, beginning on Town Council, of working across the aisle. Tom is a pragmatist who places a high value on working with others to get things done.
As we all know, the budget is the most significant problem facing the next legislature. Using his positions on the Finance, Transportation, and Environment committees, Tom will help make Connecticut more competitive while preserving the things that brought us here in the first place. I am also confident he will not shrink from the hard decisions. And because Tom is a compassionate pragmatist, you can be sure he will not solve our budget problems at the expense or seniors and working families.
Please join me in voting for Tom Kehoe as our State Representative for the 31st District.

Note: The writer is a member of the Board of EducationWe would like to express our appreciation to Tom Kehoe on another positive, clean political campaign. His character and integrity are evident in the nature of his campaign. His adds address the issues and clearly identify his position on the issues. He never attacks or shows any disrespect towards his opponents. Regardless of any party affiliations, we find that very refreshing and encouraging, especially in this day and age. We need elected officials with that kind of character and integrity and therefore please consider re-electing Tom Kehoe.

Mr. Kehoe: President Obama held a town hall meeting at CNBC on September 20, 2010 where he was elaborating on his economic policies. During the Q&A session an Obama voter expressed a polite, but devastating critique of the President’s policies which is now known as the “I am exausted of defending you…Mr. President” quote.
I immigrated to the USA from India and have watched your service with admiration because of my friendship with [former Democratic Glastonbury Town Council member] Dr. A. V. Srinivasan I am filled with admiration for the American microcosms such as open shelves of libraries and microcosm such as value based elected officials represented by you. While I too feel exhausted as the woman at the town hall meeting on September 20, 2010, I will not let that breed political apathy. The collective exhaustion that we all feel as a nation — particularly felt by families and friends who have women and men serving us in Afghanistan — is the singular result of the actions and inaction of former President Bush.
It is here that we need your presence and voice and therefor I support you.
Sincerely,
Ahalya DesikanIn this wildest political season ever with the large array of ill-equipped and unready national candidates it is certainly reassuring that we in Glastonbury have the choice to reelect a man who responsibly serves his 31st District, State Representative Tom Kehoe.
Since his first day in office, Tom Kehoe has worked doggedly to fight for the issues paramount to Glastonbury’s well being. We have Tom Kehoe to thank for working to increase the State education funding for Glastonbury by $2,800,000 which in turn kept down the increase in our property taxes. His work on preserving open space and farmland, energy, and transportation has earned Tom Kehoe much respect at the State Capitol and among environmental groups like the Sierra Club and the League of Conservation Voters.
In the Legislature, Tom Kehoe has the reputation of being smart, well-informed and willing to listen to both sides of the issue. Here at home, I find Tom Kehoe to the be the same. He is the accessible and friendly neighbor and family man, eager to listen and to share his knowledge and experience. Tom Kehoe is the perfect fit for Glastonbury.
Let’s get out on November 2nd to show our appreciation by voting for State Representative Tom Kehoe.
Sincerely,
Kathleen CollinsMy main reason for voting for Tom Kehoe on Nov 2 is the way he responds to any request, phone call for information I may send him. He is most prompt, courteous and insightful. He has never let me down, nor do I expect him to. I’m sure he is that way with every person who contacts him. He has represented Glastonbury very well and certainly has earned our votes.
Tom is the right man for Glastonbury and I hope a majority of voters in his district agree with me.
Sincerely,
William L. McGawI write in support of Tom Kehoe for re-election as our State Representative in the 31st district. I strongly support Tom Kehoe for State Representative of the 31st District and Steve Cassano for State Senate. I have three young children, and I feel these candidates have the values and ideals that are necessary to represent my family. These candidates also have the skills and proven experience to help repair the ongoing problems faced by the state. They will listen to our concerns and act accordingly with our best interests in mind. I am confident that they will properly represent me, my family, and yours and that is why I am voting for Tom Kehoe and Steve Cassano on November 2nd.
Thank you,
Jill Barry
